Zucchini Net Carbs Calculator

Zucchini is a popular low-carb vegetable, but counting its net carbs correctly matters for keto, diabetic, and carb-conscious meal planning. This zucchini net carbs calculator quickly tells you how many digestible carbs are in any serving of raw zucchini — whether you weigh it in grams, measure it in cups, or count it by whole zucchini.

The calculator uses standard USDA nutrition data: raw zucchini contains about 3.1 g of total carbohydrate and 1.0 g of dietary fiber per 100 g. Because fiber is not digested like other carbs, net carbs equal total carbs minus fiber. You can also enter a custom fiber value if the zucchini you're using has a different food label.

Just enter your serving size, adjust the optional fiber field if needed, and press Calculate. You'll get net carbs per serving, total carbs, fiber, and a simple breakdown in seconds.

How to Use This Tool

Start by entering your serving size in the first field. You can type any number — for example, 150 for 150 grams. Next, choose the unit from the dropdown: grams, cups of chopped zucchini, or whole medium zucchini. The calculator converts cups and whole vegetables to grams using standard USDA weights: 1 cup of chopped raw zucchini weighs about 124 g, and 1 medium zucchini weighs about 196 g.

Quick-fill preset buttons let you jump straight to common portions: 100 g, 1 cup, 1 medium, or 1 large zucchini. Clicking a preset fills the amount field and switches the unit to grams automatically. The fiber field below is optional — it defaults to 1.0 g per 100 g, the USDA value for raw zucchini. If you are using a zucchini variety with a different nutrition label, or if you want to compare raw versus cooked values, enter your own fiber number there.

Press Calculate to see net carbs, total carbs, fiber, and a full step-by-step breakdown in the result card. Use the Reset button to clear everything back to the default serving of 1 g.

How Net Carbs Are Calculated

The calculator applies the standard net-carb formula used by most low-carb and keto meal trackers:

Net Carbs = Total Carbohydrates − Dietary Fiber

Fiber is subtracted because it is not digested and absorbed like other carbohydrates, so it does not raise blood sugar the same way. The nutrition data comes from the USDA FoodData Central, which reports raw zucchini as containing approximately 3.1 g of total carbohydrate and 1.0 g of dietary fiber per 100 g. The calculator multiplies these per-100 g values by your serving weight to get per-serving numbers.

Some low-carb diets also subtract sugar alcohols, but raw zucchini contains negligible sugar alcohols, so they are not included here. If your zucchini is part of a packaged product, check the label for sugar alcohol content and adjust accordingly.

Worked Examples

Example 1: You eat 100 g of raw zucchini. Total carbs = 100 × 0.031 = 3.1 g. Fiber = 100 × 0.010 = 1.0 g. Net carbs = 3.1 − 1.0 = 2.1 g.

Example 2: You eat 1 cup of chopped zucchini (124 g). Total carbs = 124 × 0.031 = 3.8 g. Fiber = 124 × 0.010 = 1.2 g. Net carbs = 3.8 − 1.2 = 2.6 g.

Example 3: A recipe calls for 2 medium zucchini (2 × 196 = 392 g). Total carbs = 392 × 0.031 = 12.2 g. Fiber = 392 × 0.010 = 3.9 g. Net carbs = 12.2 − 3.9 = 8.3 g.

Tips & Best Practices

Weigh raw, not cooked. Zucchini loses water when cooked, so 100 g of cooked zucchini contains more zucchini per gram than 100 g raw. Weigh the raw ingredient before cooking for consistent macro tracking, since cooking does not add or remove carbohydrates.

Watch your portion when spiralized. Zoodles are mostly water, but a large spiralized zucchini can still weigh 250–300 g, which adds up to around 5–6 g of net carbs. It is still low-carb, but it is easy to underestimate when the vegetable shrinks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are net carbs the same for cooked zucchini? Cooking changes moisture content but not the amount of carbohydrate per gram of raw food, so the values remain close if you use raw weights. If you weigh cooked zucchini, the density changes, and you will need the cooked nutrition values instead.

Should I use net carbs on keto? Many keto plans allow fiber to be subtracted, which is the approach this calculator uses. If you follow a different method, the result card also shows total carbs and fiber separately so you can do your own math.

What about yellow squash or other summer squash? Yellow squash has a very similar carb profile to zucchini — about 3.4 g total carbs per 100 g — so results will be close. For exact numbers, adjust the fiber field or use the appropriate USDA entry.
